Dear Parents:

Preparations are underway at Weddington Middle School to welcome students back to one of North Carolina’s highest performing public schools.  My name is Kim Dracon, and I am the PTSO Sponsorship Chair. In addition to this, I also coordinate school tours for prospective families.  Guiding families through the corridors of WMS has given me a great sense of pride.  The faculty, students, building, and grounds contribute to a positive learning culture that newcomers would marvel at and embrace.

One exceptional attribute of this school is its dedicated PTSO which includes numerous volunteers that offer both their talents and their financial support.  Thanks to WMS’s generous community of families and sponsors, the fourth year of the BFF Fundraiser was a HUGE success; and that’s just part of the picture!  Our total effort enabled the PTSO to purchase six new SMART boards, numerous educational materials, offer arts programming support and accomplished the complete renovation of all three grade level teacher workrooms, guidance office,and conference room. 

We have much to be proud of and we thank all of the families who contributed to making this possible.  However, there is still much to be done!  In response to the economy, North Carolina’s education budget has had to make a cut and our school will be charged with doing more with less, affecting both personnel and infrastructure. Your PTSO is dedicated to minimizing the impact to our classrooms.

And that brings me to you, since so few are contributing so much. About 20% of our WMS families participated in last year’s sponsorship program.  This year, we look forward to welcoming many new families and strive to double last year’s results.  I hope that you will consider becoming a sponsor as we work to address the challenging times facing our exceptional school.  Our sponsorship levels are as follows:

Platinum Membership: $250 plus. Includes PTSO membership, driveway sign, WMS car magnet, Weddington golf umbrella.

Gold Membership: $100 plus. Includes PTSO membership, driveway sign, WMS car magnet

Silver Membership: $50 - $99. Includes PTSO membership and WMS car magnet

PTSO Membership: $10.

All contributions are tax-deductible and eligible for corporate match donations. PTSO Membership & Family Sponsorships will be collected until October 30, 2011.
