Art Volunteers

2 - 4 volunteers are needed to hang and take down artwork in the hallways on a weekly/biweekly basis. The dates and times are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday at 10am for approximately 1 hour.

Baskets, Food and Fun (BFF)

This event is our largest event of the year and involves many sub-committees to run efficiently. Managed by a Committee Chair, volunteers are needed for several pre-event activities: BFF Sponsorship solicitation, rides/activities procurement, food/drinks, ticket sales, and advertising, to name a few. The night of the event additional volunteers are needed to help with the above sub-committees, but also with setup, ticket sales, money collection, and clean up. More information will be provided via the WMS PTSO Newsflash and on Facebook as the Committee is developed annually.

Every year the PTSO assists our school during End of Grade (EOG) exams by requesting parent volunteers to assist with proctoring these exams. Once the dates and information is posted we will create a signup genius with days/times available.

Health Exams

Every March the PTSO assist WMS with volunteer needs to count loose change collected for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) Drive. Volunteers can sign up via the signup genius link attached and will only need to commit a few hours of time at your choosing.

Membership Committee

Every year the WMS PTSO conducts the Cats Capital Campaign (previously Wildcat Den) from August to October. A Committee Chair and 1-2 volunteers are needed to run this committee. Volunteers will assist with processing donations in the form of cash/check and online through the website; distributing SWAG varying per sponsorship level; communicating the Capital Campaign through the Social Media Chair, Website Administrator and morning announcements; calculating grade level classroom winners for highest participation and hosting pizza parties per grade. Most of the volunteer need for this committee can be done from home with minimal distribution of SWAG through the classroom teachers.

Membership Committee - Pizza Party

See Membership Committee. Every year the classroom with the highest percentage of participation in the Cats Capital Campaig is awarded a pizza party. Volunteers are needed to assist with the Pizza Party by assisting with setup, serving and cleanup. This event usually occurs in November or December once the capital campaign is completed in October.

Philanthropy

Volunteers are needed throughout the year to assist with intermittent fundraising events the WMS conducts for other programs. In December each year, we collect money during the loose change drive for Walter Bickett allowing gift cards tp be purchased for students at that school. And in March, loose change is collected for the LLS Pennies for Patients Drive.

The Social Media Chair is responsible for maintaining the WMS PTSO Facebook and Twitter account and working with the website administrator and individual committees for their needs as related to information to be posted on social media. This includes information for the uniform shop, events such as dances and BFF, general posts for volunteer needs, etc. This volunteer position can be done from anyway and can be combined with the website administrator position.

Thanksgiving Pie Collection

Every year the Staff Appreciation Committee collects varies store-bought pies to distribute to our staff and administration to show them how THANKFUL we are for them! Volunteers are needed to donate pies that can be dropped off at the school or in car rider line with details provided yearly through the signup genius link.

Walter Bickett - Loose Change Drive

The website administrator is responsible for maintaining the WMS PTSO website and working with each committee for their needs as related to information to be posted on the site. This includes information for the uniform shop, events such as dances and BFF, general posts for volunteer needs, etc. This volunteer position is mainly completed from home and some prior knowledge of websites, links, and general computer skills is helpful.

The PTSO holds an annual Yard Sale where our WMS Community can purchase donated/gently used Uniform wear at a discount. ​ We rely upon our parents to donate clean, approved Uniform wear that is no longer needed by their children to make this event successful.
